4. Click on Wireless Networks Tab. Make sure the option “Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings” is selected

5. In the list of preferred networks, if there is already one called "eduroam", select it and move it up to the top of the list of networks, and click “Properties”. If the network does not appear there, you will need to add a new one called "eduroam". A new window will pop up.
6. In the Association Tab, choose “WPA” in the drop down menu for “Network Authentication” and “TKIP” for “Data Encryption”.


7. In the Authentication Tab, check that 802.1x authentication is ticked, and ensure that “Authenticate as Computer” and “Authenticate as Guest” are NOT ticked. In the EAP type select SecureW2. .

8. Click on “Properties” and the Alfa & Ariss client will pop up.

9. Click on “New” to create a new profile. Call it “eduroam”

10. Under “Connection” tab make sure “Use alternate outer identity” is NOT selected.

11. Under “Certificates”, you need to tick “Verify server certificate”. Click on Add CA and add the “Equifax Secure Global eBusiness CA-1” certificate from the list. Also tick “Verify server name” and enter the value “eduroam-gateway.mq.edu.au”.

12. Under Authentication, Select “PAP” as the Authentication Method.

13. Under User Account, unselect “Prompt user for credentials”. In “Username” field, enter your login ID in the form of “MQ<your staff number here>@mq.edu.au”. In the password field, enter your password. Hit OK until all the dialog boxes closes
14. Click OK to close all wireless set up windows. Disable your wireless network and re-enable it. You should now be connected to “eduroam”
